1. Appearance and Logo Inspection

Inspection items: Check if there are any defects on the valve's appearance, such as cracks, bubbles, dents, etc.; Check if the labels, nameplates and surface treatments meet the requirements.

Standard: International standards include API 598, ASME B16.34, ISO 5208, etc.; Chinese standards include GB/T 12224 (General Requirements for Steel Valves), GB/T 12237 (Steel Ball Valves for Petroleum, Petrochemical and Related Industries), etc.

Testing method: Through visual inspection and tactile examination, determine whether there are any obvious defects on the valve surface, and verify whether the labels and nameplates are correct.

II. Dimension Measurement

Inspection content: Measure the key dimensions of the valve, including the connection ports, valve body length, valve stem diameter, etc., to ensure they comply with the design drawings and standards.

Standard: International standards include ASME B16.10, ASME B16.5, ISO 5752, etc.; Chinese standards include GB/T 12221 (valve structural length), GB/T 9112 (flange connection dimensions), etc.

Testing method: Use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to measure the key dimensions of the valve, ensuring they meet the design requirements.

III. Sealing Performance Test

Static pressure test: Apply static water pressure or static air pressure to the valve, and after a certain period of time, check for any leakage.

Low-pressure airtightness test: When the valve is closed, apply low-pressure gas inside the valve and check for any leakage.

Shell strength test: Apply static water pressure higher than the working pressure to the valve to test its shell strength and pressure resistance capability.

Valve stem strength test: To assess whether the torque or tensile force exerted on the valve stem during operation is within the safe range.

IV. Operational Performance Testing

Opening and closing torque and speed test: Test the opening and closing torque, opening and closing speed, as well as the operation feel of the valve to ensure smooth operation within a reasonable torque range.

Flow characteristic test: This test measures the flow characteristics of the valve at various opening degrees to evaluate its ability to regulate the fluid.

V. Corrosion Resistance Test

Evaluation content: Evaluate the corrosion resistance of the valve material to the working medium.

Standard: International standards include ISO 9227 (salt spray test), ASTM G85, etc.

Testing method: Place the valve in the salt spray test chamber to simulate the corrosive environment, and test the durability of the material under corrosive conditions.

VI. Durability and Reliability Testing

Repetitive opening and closing cycle test: The valve is repeatedly opened and closed in a cycle to evaluate its durability and reliability in long-term use.

Temperature stability test: This test assesses the performance stability of the valve under various temperature conditions, ensuring its normal operation in extreme temperature environments.

Vibration and shock testing: Place the valve on a vibration table or shock table to simulate the vibrations and shocks encountered in the working environment, and test the stability and reliability of the valve.

VII. Leak Detection

Internal leakage detection: Testing the internal sealing performance of the valve when it is in the closed position.

External leakage detection: Inspect the external sealing performance of the valve during use to ensure there is no leakage of the medium.

VIII. Other Tests

Safety valve testing: For safety valves, additional tests such as set pressure and reseating pressure need to be conducted to ensure they comply with the specifications and relevant regulations outlined in the manual.
